Klangwolke Linz

The Klangwolke (‘Cloud of Sound’) is a free open-air music festival which repeats in Upper Austria’s capital Linz every year in the beginning of September. At dusk, crowds of more than 100.000 spectators wait at the Danube bank between the Lentos Art Museum and the Bruckner House for an incredible show. The visualized Klangwolke stages modern music with laser, video projects, fireworks, ships, cranes, balloons, etc. and differs every year.

This year, the Klangwolke took place on September 6th 2014 with perfect late summer weather. Therefore we already started a picnic with friends in the afternoon and stayed at the banks until night. In the dark, the sky became the stage for fireworks and laser lights. The spectacular performance was titled “The Danube lives” and brought focus to the danube and its history. Musicians and singers from all countries along the Danube performed country-based music on boats. And like the years before, I was amazed by the music and the whole production – and I’m already looking forward to the Klangwolke 2015!
